Westside Engagement Session { Atlanta, Georgia}

When I met Andrew and Erica, I had a feeling they were a “power” couple. Y0u know, one of those couples that are incredibly compatible and amazingly accomplished? Their personalities complimented one another perfectly during our Westside Atlanta engagement session. We met at Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream for a sweet and cold treat on a Sunday afternoon in HOT-lanta (I now know the true meaning of that term of endearment for this wonderful city). Jeni’s provided a cute backdrop for them to share a few scoops of ice cream. One of which that caught our eye was Jeni’s “Buckeye State” flavor, peanut butter and chocolate ice cream named after the candy awesomeness known as a “buckeye” in Ohio. Both Andrew and Erica are Northerners from Ohio and moved to Atlanta together.  When we were talking, I mentioned that I grew up in Ohio as well and missed seeing the seasons changing, which definitely was something Erica loved (sweaters, boots, scarves, all the cute stuff:) They also told us they were Ohio State Buckeyes fans and at that moment I KNEW they power couple! We had a great time hanging out around Star Provisions area, laughing and getting chased by security guards (who knew a brick wall was privately owned?) and then over to Atlantic Station for a stroll around the lake. Congratulations on your engagement Andrew and Erica, we wish you much happiness in your life together!

O-H!!!!

Athens, Georgia Wedding {First Presbyterian Church}

I am so happy to share this summer wedding! Yes, I know, summer:) School started for me about 6 weeks ago and finding a balance in a new job and a new city has been rewarding, yet challenging. Onto the wedding!

Carolin and Greg were married at First Presbyterian Church of Athens on July 12th. I photographed their engagement session at the University of Georgia on a beautiful spring day. Carolin wore yellow and scarlet, which she continued into her wedding day color scheme. The weather on that summer day was gorgeous as well (boy are they lucky!) and we had a great venue to work with. The First Presbyterian Church is so breathtaking, you really need to see it in person. The sanctuary alone will give you goosebumps! When we arrived, I found Carolin lounging with a coffee, fully dressed and fresh hair and makeup with her bridesmaids. She was stunning! I have not seen someone so relaxed and poised before their wedding day and she just was positively glowing with excitement. Greg, although he did not show it, was nervous. He was handsome in the gray suit and soft yellow vest. Surrounded by friends and family, they shared sweet vows with each other and before God in that beautiful sanctuary. Matthew and I were met with such a warm reception from their families, it was awesome to see such love each of them had from Carolin and Greg. Congratulations to the two of you! Cheers!

Del’Avant Center Wedding {La Grange, Georgia}

Rose and Adam as such a brilliant and amazing couple! They planned their wedding at the Del’Avant Center is La Grange, Georgia, which was the PERFECT backdrop for their vintage themed wedding. The center itself used to be the Kress and McLellan five and dime store with all the charm and character of the turn of the century still intact. Rose and Adam are extremely intelligent individuals, with Rose as a science teacher and Adam as an engineer, there was no shortage of science jokes and random references during the wedding day. At their ceremony, they invited couples at various stages of their marriage and they shared their words of wisdom for them going forward. They read their own vows with references to Cosmos and Carl Sagan, which made Matthew and I both giddy with delight. Congratulation to you both on your beautiful wedding day and your equally beautiful marriage!

North Carolina Museum of Art {Raleigh, North Carolina Engagement Session}

When Morgan and Aubrey contacted me about their engagement session at the North Carolina Museum of Art that also involved long board skateboarding, I was immediately sold! We met on a wonderful North Carolina summer night, not too hot, but I definitely wanted a large sweet tea after the session. We toured around the Art Park and started right around the reflecting pool and gorgeous glass tunnel leading to the other art museum building. Morgan and Aubrey were so sweet together as they told us about how they met and fell in love. They both were instantly drawn to each other’s humor and spontaneous personalities. We had a great time taking our formal portraits, but we soon changed gears and they brought out their long boards. The gorgeous  “Gyre” sculpture provided a great backdrop to their skate boarding and we moved around to the pond and lovely weeping willow trees (which Morgan proclaimed was her favorite tree:). Matthew and I had such a great time getting to know them both and experiencing some great art in the process. Congratulations Morgan and Aubrey on your engagement, we cannot wait to photograph your wedding in September!

Ashley and Matt {St. Simon Island Wedding, The King and Prince Resort}

I absolutely ADORE seaside weddings! A beach wedding has such a romantic, light, and fun feel to them. That is exactly the feeling Ashley and Matt wanted for their wedding day. Along with their friends and family, Matt and Ashley exchanged vows at the beautiful King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort. The weather was hot in St. Simon Island, Georgia, but the breeze off the water made for a pleasant evening. In the distance loomed a large thunderhead, but as soon as it approached the shore and the resort, it was like the cloud knew there was a wedding, and the sky turned blue just in time for their ceremony. Ashley and Matt chose to do a “first look” before the ceremony,  and I am so glad they did! They were incredibly blown away with how each other looked and were so happy to be together in that moment. It was a very special and tender way to connect with each other before the rest of the day ahead. Matthew (my wonderful second photographer and boyfriend) and I had a blast spending a weekend in St. Simon with Ashley and Matt, their wedding was truly romantic and beautiful! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Wallace!
